Whereas yesterday’s song evokes an exuberant cheer with its lilting lyrical line, today’s song selection is more quietly introspective. A cappella singer Peter Hollens is the talent (as writer and performer) behind this beautiful song. He has both an instrumental and a cappella version on his album A Hollens Family Christmas, and while I adore his a cappella pieces, the instruments add an ethereal beauty to this already gorgeous melody. I’ve included the lyrics below since the video doesn’t have them, but as with yesterday, this is a must listen!
December Song, Peter Hollens
We give our gifts
Wishing well to our world,
Peace on Earth to everyone.
A time to be joyful
When all is calm and all is bright
But why
Does it change with the seasons?
And why can’t we just hold on?
To silent nights, holy night
And angels singing lullabies,
And Heaven and nature, singing goodwill to all…
To all
There are times
I can remember with family and friends, the light of Christmas
Radiates
Lights up my memories
The magic of love
We made time
But why
Does it change with the seasons?
And why can’t we just hold on?
To silent nights, holy nights
And angels singing lullabies
And Heaven and nature, singing goodwill to all…
To all
O, come let us adore Him
O, come let us adore Him
O, come let us adore Him
O, Night Divine
And those silent nights, holy nights
And angels singing lullabies,
And Heaven and nature, singing goodwill to all…
To all
And those silent nights, holy nights
And angels singing lullabies,
And Heaven and nature, singing goodwill to all…
To all… to all
